The Beagle Project’s Director of Science, Dr Karen James, and the Friends of Charles Darwin's Richard Carter FCD discuss the recent, and frankly awesome, Darwin bicentennial festival in Cambridge, UK. They go on to talk about recent International Space Station sightings over the UK, the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, and Karen's extraordinary phone call from a friend in high places.

Errata
- The book written by William Paley was Natural Theology, not Vestiges of the Natural History of Creation. The latter was actually written by Robert Chambers (although published anonymously).
- The correct URL for the satellite-tracking website mentioned by Karen is http://www.heavens-above.com/, and most definitely not the one she gave out, which is that of an adult store!

Peter McGrath in alfresco conversation with Dr Karen James, the Beagle Project's Director of Science. The conversation goes all the way from low earth orbit to the classroom. So whether you want to know what a 170 year old ship has to do with science, why we'll be talking to the International Space Station and why a biology student in a classroom on a Tuesday afternoon should get excited about us, listen in.
This episode was recorded in the garden of Beagle Project director David Lort-Phillips on a lovely spring evening, and you can hear the local birds enthusiastically getting in on the act.
We're going to make podcasts a regular feature of the Beagle Project, so if you've got any ideas for podcasts, any comments, if you want to take part drop us a comment or email.
